no tech internship yet? here’s what to do instead 👇

IM NOT HERE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU’RE COOKED. IT’S ONLY APRIL.

BUT a lot of companies are done hiring, but that doesn’t mean you stop there. instead you shift your focus

because if you want to be competitive for sophomore/junior year recruiting, your skillset + portfolio MATTERS MORE than anything

BUILD YOUR SKILLSET (THIS IS THE PRIORITY)
-look at swe internship descriptions you want
-learn those exact skills (python, sql, apis, etc.)
-use platforms like Codedex to actually learn by building, not just watching
-then turn those skills into real projects

BUILD PROJECTS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER
-don’t just follow tutorials -> build something that solves a real problem
-recreate real products, automate something in your life, or build tools for others
-these are what go on your resume + portfolio

STACK YOUR PORTFOLIO EARLY
-github matters more than you think
-build 2–4 solid projects by the end of summer
-document your progress and show your thinking
-start using neetcode & leetcode to prep

STILL APPLY + NETWORK
-startups, local companies, and nonprofits still hire
-reach out, coffee chat, and stay in the game

because next recruiting cycle comes FAST
and the people who win are the ones who used this time to actually get better

if you want the exact platform I used to start building, comment “code” and I’ll send it ⬇️
