One of you asked me: "If you're 18, living just above the poverty line in Kenya, and you want to make money, how would you approach that?"

Honestly I wouldn't start a YouTube channel. If you're in a lower income country but you have internet access, your biggest advantage is that you can serve businesses in places like the US where people have money to spend.

Learn something that helps them make more money, like web design or social media marketing or AI automation. You don't need to pay for courses because YouTube videos are free.

The uncomfortable truth is that the easiest way to make money quickly is by helping rich people make even more money. It's not an easy road but this is probably the path with the highest likelihood of actually working 🙌

The biggest myth about starting a business is that you need an original idea.

You don't.

In fact, for your first business, you probably don't want an original idea.

An original idea means no one's done it before, which means no one's validated there's actually a market for it. You might build something no one wants 😅

But a "copycat" business, like being an accountant, web designer, personal trainer… there are zillions of them and that's a good thing.

Competition means there's money being spent which means the market works.

So pick something where competition already exists. Then just grab a small slice of a big pie.

A year ago, I invested 6 figures into building an app called @voicepal.app - now it's got thousands of users.

3 things I learned 👇

1️⃣ Vibe coding isn't enough. Building a basic mockup is easy. Actually getting into the App Store and scaling? A nightmare.

2️⃣ Work with people who've done it before. Our co-founder and engineering team had been through this and it was a game-changer.

3️⃣ Ship fast. When we launched, the app worked but it wasn't pretty, which didn't matter. We got thousands of users and feedback before wasting months on polishing it. 

You can always add polish later. You can't add users without shipping.
